About the Founder
Laurie Bowen is the founder and CEO Of Sacred Acres and holds a Masters Degree from Wayne State University in Social Work and is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist in good standing with the College and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She completed her Honours B.A. in Drama In Education as well as a teaching degree majoring in Dramatic Arts and a Certification as an Addiction Counsellor while living in Windsor Ontario. After watching her beloved Aunt Ida suffer through Alzheimer’s and Dementia, she became certified in Montessori Methods for Alzheimer’s and Dementia, developed by Maria Montessori, the first female physician in Italy, and adapted for people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia by Dr. Jeremy Camp.
As a Family Therapist, Laurie can work with your child, your teen, your spouse your aging parent and you to help transform the lives of those closest to your heart. Meditation and Mindfulness classes are available throughout the summer in our Sacred Circle.
Laurie believes in utilizing natural means to combat stress so she became certified as a Laughter Yoga Leader and is available to facilitate your group laugh-a-thon!
The Dance For Parkinson's Disease (and other motion disorders) program is seeking dancers so please send Laurie a private message if you know someone who would benefit from this specialized class.
In the fall of 2016 Laurie became EAGALA Certified Mental Health Specialist for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. and offers Equine Assisted Psychotherapy with her three miniature horses.
